Indebtedness

My financial aid application to my law school was complete yesterday. This was not an easy feat! It required doing my tax returns ON TIME and filling out endless forms about things that I’m not sure I understand, and predicting my 2005 income and things like that. But it’s done. So now I am just waiting for my school to tell me my financial aid package.

Had a conversation with my parents tonight. My parents are thrilled that I’m going to law school, but I’m getting increasingly worried about my level of indebtedness when I graduate. I went to finaid.org the other day and calculated how much I would have to pay back per month if I owed 100K after law school. It’s something like $1,250 per month! For 10 years! For someone who’s not sure she wants to work for BigLaw after law school, this is definitely a little depressing.

So I’ll wait and see what kind of package my law school gives me. And let’s also hope the parents will come to the rescue.
